Age Is Just a Number: Jim Carson’s Inspiring Journey at 82

At Foodmek, few stories speak to the heart of commitment and passion quite like Jim Carson’s.

This December, Jim celebrates his 82nd birthday and while many in his shoes might have been winding down to retirement decades ago, he remains as energised and devoted to his craft as ever.

Jim joined Foodmek almost half a century ago, already an experienced machinist, beginning his journey in 1958 at Ranco Motors.

Over the years, he’s witnessed waves of technological evolution and industry shifts, yet his unwavering love for the work has been a constant.

Jim always arrives with a smile and is motivated by a genuine passion and pride in what he does.

For Jim, a fulfilling career comes down to a few simple yet profound principle which is the advice he’d pass on to the younger generation. “Take your time and listen. True expertise and craftsmanship develops over time” he says, crediting success to patience and a willingness to learn.

It is hard work and as he puts it, “If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.”

Jim’s story is more than just a lengthy career; his presence at Foodmek is a reminder of the value of pride and joy in one’s work.

And as he turns 82 this December, Jim continues to inspire those around him with his simple philosophy: “It’s more than just a job, and I’ve no intention of stopping.”
