Mechanical Fitter

Location - CLYDEBANK/VARIABLE SITES ACCROSS SCOTLAND
Purpose / Role
-
To deliver a high quality, consistent and competent mechanical service in accordance with project / company requirements, standards and procedures
-
To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule along with site procedures
-
To ensure all that all workscope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment
Duties of the Mechanical Fitter will include:
-
Striping down rotating equipment including mechanical seals, gearing and bearings
-
Cleaning down parts and using a vapour blaster to remove rust
-
Vetting parts to determine if they are fit to reuse -
-
Measuring knowledge is essential both metric and imperial - using micrometres, Vernier callipers and height gauges
-
Building sub - assemblies to engineering drawings as SOP's
What the role involves
-
Repairs to all types of rotating equipment.
-
Dismantling, inspection, condition assessment and subsequent report on received equipment.

Fault finding of industrial electro mechanical equipment.
-
Carrying out root cause analysis of assets.
-
Working on site and in the workshop when required.
-
Working within and contributing towards the current health & safety guidelines and site requirements.

Good team working skills as well as working on own initiative.
-
Promote good housekeeping for an efficient working environment.

Undergo training programmes where necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Essential
-
A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
-
4 Year Appreticeship or Level 2 NVQ equivalent
-
City and Guilds (C&G) Mechanical Fitting or Assembly and or NVQ Level 3 in related trade.
-
CCNSG Safety passport.
-
Strong engineering background in a similar environment.
-
Recognised mechanical apprenticeship.
-
Team and communication skills.
-
Capable of working alone, or equally as part of a team.
-
Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to quality of work.
-
Flexible approach to working times in line with company’s reactive nature.
Desirable
-
Full clean UK driving licence.
-
Multi skilling an advantage.
-
Experience with pumps, gearboxes, motors and fans.
-
Confined space qualification.
-
Working within ATEX standards.
-
Water Hygiene qualified.
-
Demonstrable experience in a pump alignment role.
-
Preservation of rotating and static equipment.
-
Demonstrable experience in pressure testing.
